It’s mid-00’s “rock”, which, to me, is just whiny guitar noise with no room for any of the instruments to breathe with some whiny-voiced dude whining about something. With that said, the right analog thumbstick can be used as your throttle and brake, but I never got comfortable using that option.Īnother downside is the soundtrack. I would much rather have accelerate and brake be R1 and L1, respectively, rather than X and as using the face buttons is taxing on my surgically repaired thumb. One downside to the game is the inability to map your buttons. I played this game using both a controller and a Driving Force Pro wheel, and, if I'm being honest, I preferred my experience using the controller. The games manual is, ironically, rather bland and not in color, but it gives you all you need to know. With a variety of game modes and a slew of unlockable cars, there's plenty to keep you entertained. It's beautifully presented, the graphics are top-notch, the physics feel amazing, the sound is immersive, and the sense of speed is other worldly. ![]() ![]() There's a reason "Burnout 3" is beloved and is considered not just one of the best racing games of all time but also one of the best video games of all time. ![]() I have 62 PS2 games in my collection, most of which I have never played, so I will be working my way through each one of them in alphabetical order weekly throughout 2023. 10/62 Here's "Burnout 3: Takedown" for the PS2.
